At OTORide, innovation doesn’t stop. We’ve taken shared mobility to the next level with the launch of our Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Rental feature—allowing anyone to rent or earn from micromobility, Airbnb-style.
The P2P Rental feature allows individual users to list their personal vehicles—scooters or e-bikes—on the OTORide platform. Riders can browse these listings, request to rent a specific vehicle, and propose a rental rate. Vehicle owners receive these requests and decide whether to accept or reject.
All data—vehicle availability, rental requests, pricing, trip logs, and owner earnings—is managed through the OTORide dashboard.
This feature was developed exclusively for our client Desppi in France. Their CEO, Gael Bokongo, approached us with a clear vision—to introduce a brand-new business model for micromobility in France, one inspired by Airbnb but tailored to scooters and e-bikes. They wanted to enable individuals to rent out their personal vehicles while maintaining full operational oversight.
To make that vision real, we built a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Rental system that gives Desppi complete backend control while allowing vehicle owners and riders to interact through a seamless, managed platform.
Desppi remains the system operator, with the ability to approve vehicle owners, define allowed zones via geofencing, and monitor all transactions in real-time. The feature creates a new revenue layer for the business, enabling community-powered growth with operator-level oversight.
Here’s what the full cycle looks like:
What makes OTORide’s P2P Rental feature stand out is the depth of control and flexibility. Operators like Desppi can:
Whether you want to launch a rider-to-owner marketplace, test a low-cost inventory expansion, or introduce a new monetization model—OTORide’s P2P Rental is designed to support your goals.
